What Kin stores

What Kin does not do
- Does not sell your information, and does not use it for advertising.
- Does not track you across other apps or websites.
- Never makes payments or changes on your behalf.
- Does not give medical or legal advice. Kin is not a health service.
Who sees what you enter
Only the members of the family you share with. Nobody outside the family has access. This is enforced in the database, not just in the app: every single row is protected by access rules that apply however it is asked for.
Those of us developing Kin can in principle reach the database for operations and fixing faults. We do not go into a family's content unless it is necessary to solve a problem you have reported yourself.
Where it is stored
The information is stored with Supabase in the EU/EEA (Ireland). Nothing is transferred outside the EU/EEA.
For how long
- As long as your account exists. Kin does not delete content by itself.
- Deleted people, tasks and events are marked as deleted and removed entirely after 90 days. That leaves room to undo a mistaken tap.
- The activity log is kept for a limited period and cleared automatically.
- If you delete your account, it is removed immediately. Families only you can reach are deleted with it. Families you share with others remain, and one of the remaining members becomes the new administrator.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct and delete your information, to restrict or object to the processing, and to receive your information in a machine-readable format.
You can delete your account yourself, at any time, under My profile in the app. For anything else, write to post@kinapp.no. If you believe we are handling information wrongly, you can complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority, Datatilsynet.
Legal basis
The information is processed to deliver the service you asked for (contract, GDPR article 6(1)(b)), and for information you choose to enter about others, on the basis of the consent you give when registering (article 6(1)(a)). Consent can be withdrawn at any time by deleting your account.
Information about people other than yourself
Kin is by its nature about other people — a parent, a child, a brother. If you enter information about somebody else, you are responsible for it being alright that you do. Where it concerns an adult who can decide for themselves, that person ought to know about it.
Changes
If we change this notice in a way that matters, you will be told in the app and asked to read it again. The version number at the top says which edition applies.
